The manufacturer has agreed to provide a new safety seat belt and updated instructions for use for all Ambulift hoists, following a fatality involving an occupant being transferred into a bath.

30 Jul 2008 | MDA/2008/058 - Medi-Tec Classic hoist manufactured by Aidservice Ltd
This Medical Device Alert has been issued after the MHRA received reports of two incidents where the spreader bar detached from the boom of the hoist while it was in use.

This Medical Device Alert has been issued to highlight the risk of a fall from the hoist resulting in serious injury or death due to a lack of safety belt.
